Department of dermatology in VMCH &RI handles the diagnosis of disorders, diseases, malignity, cosmetic and aging conditions of the skin, hair, nails. The unbeaten team of cosmetologists treats these conditions clinically or surgically. Various investigations and therapies conducted by our department are dermatohistopathology, topical and systemic medications, dermatologic surgery and dermatologic cosmetic surgery, immunotherapy, phototherapy, laser therapy, radiotherapy, and photodynamic therapy.
The study of skin and its pathology requires skill and proper guidance. Unlike other specialties, Dermatology needs visual diagnosis. The Department of Dermatology is located on the first floor of VMCH &RI with spacious well lit OPD rooms. Procedure rooms with fully equipped instruments for dermatological & cosmetological procedures with expert dermatologists, cosmetologists and plastic surgeons in coordination with the diagnostic facilities and support staff guarantees outstanding results. A team of doctors specializing in different facets of dermatology work together for all-round quality care of patients.
The Information :
LASERs – CO2 LASER with ablative and fractional mode and the latest scanner mode is used for scar correction, anti-aging rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction and removal of warts and growths.
QsNdYAG LASER deals with tattoo removal and pigment removal. It is also used for the latest sought after carbon peel treatment for rejuvenation.
Triple wavelength LASER (Diode, Alex and NdYAG) within motion mode is the latest technology in hair removal available only in very few centers in Tamilnadu. It is known for its ability to tackle all types of excess hair growth in any individual with minimal side effects.
MNRF – an energy-based device for scar correction and rejuvenation. Alternative to LASER and cost-effective with good results.
Microdermabrasion – A rejuvenating device with immediate results on the same day. It is combined with various skin lightening and hydrating masks for instantly smooth and bright skin.
Peels (imported) – They help in exfoliation of the skin, correction of pimples, black spots, and rejuvenation. Party peels that give quick results and professional peels that tackle deeper pigmentation are available.
Hair scan (folliscope) – used for in-depth analysis of various issues of hair and hair fall. A detailed report of the caliber of the hair, scalp condition, hair roots, and density is given.
Hyfrecator and radiofrequency devices – for removal of common warts, tags, and skin growths. Difficult to treat hairs are removed permanently by electrolysis.
Phototherapy (imported davlin machine) is an excellent side to affect free light-based treatment for psoriasis, vitiligo, allergies and itchy skin diseases.
Procedures :
Vitiligo surgery – grafting and melanocyte transfer techniques are done to correct almost any type of white patch unresponsive to medical treatment.
Hair transplantation – hairs on the back of the scalp are grafted to the bald area for coverage and to improve density. Permanent and reliable solution for thinning hair.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy – purified plasma rich in growth factors are extracted from the patient’s blood and injected for hair growth, scar reduction, and rejuvenation.
Non-surgical facelift – to combat changes of aging like wrinkles and volume loss a combination of therapies like Botox, fillers and thread lifts are done.
Others – removal of moles, ear lobe repair, ear piercing, nail surgeries, stretch marks reduction, keloid correction, double chin correction.
