The surgery department is one of the famous departments in Velammal Hospital. With five functioning units each headed by a professor. Each unit has sufficient faculties to conduct procedures. There are around 150 beds available to support the smooth functioning of the surgery department. Each unit will have one admission day a week and two operation theater days. Our operation theater is a well advanced modular theater with all modern equipment. There are exclusive OT for laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. The department also has a full-fledged surgery ICU with 10 beds absolutely for General surgery patients with round the clock service by consultants and specially trained qualified paramedical staff.
